Jose Canseco Fight Results & Photos

Jose Canseco was greeted by a round of boos as he entered the ring. The challenger, Todd Poulton, was a hometown hero who had most of the crowd on his side.

It didn’t take long for Jose to quiet the fans as he scored a first round knockdown with a jab and then kept his opponent from landing any meaningful punches throughout the fight.

Jose now improves his celebrity boxing record to 2-2 with this decision and might need to find a new job as the schtick seems to be getting old. It was estimated that less than 500 people were in attendance.

No word on who his next opponent will be.

Dustin Diamond, anyone …?

Rodney King Ready For A New Beating

I wish I could tell you the trading card you see below, depicting an infamous and sad day in our history, was not real. It was produced in 2004 by Rittenhouse for their True Crime trading cards and features a drawing of the Los Angeles police officers who beat Rodney King within an inch of his life.

For that brutal and disgusting beating, King walked away with $3.8 million dollars, which he used to open a record company. The money must have run out because in 2008 Rodney took another beating, this time by normal criminals, while riding his bicycle.

Thank goodness for celebrity boxing. Two months ago, Rodney stepped into the ring for his first fight, against a police officer, and walked away the winner. Tomorrow, he will take part in his second celebrity boxing match in a hotel with another former big name on the under card.

Guess who …?

It’s safe to say that Jose Canseco’s career has been a colossal failure. Having suffered two knockouts and a loss to a much smaller Danny Bonaduce, it’s hard to imagine why he would continue to pursue this new “career”. Either way, he too will be fighting on Friday.

Jose’s opponent is Todd Poulton, a real boxing enthusiast who just missed out on turning pro. Believe me when I tell you that he takes celebrity boxing very seriously. More likely than not, you can expect photographs of Jose out on his ass yet again on Friday night.

Stay tuned to Wax Heaven for coverage of the fight.

Will Jose Canseco get knocked out again?

In a few hours, the man who once conquered the world of baseball will step in the ring for his fourth celebrity fight. In those fights, Jose Canseco has yet to win once and has been brutally knocked out twice. Judging by his opponent, nicknamed “El Wingador”, it looks like there is no way Jose loses tonight.

Bill Simmons, only known for his multiple Wing Bowl eating contest victories is 47 and weighs close to 350 lbs. He is one eating contest away from a massive heart attack so I don’t see how in the world he will last more than one round against an in-shape Jose Canseco, even without Steroids.

Prediction: Simmons, who outweighs Jose will likely land a few shots before running out of steam in the 1st round. Jose will throw everything he has and either knock out Simmons or the fight will get stopped by a referee.

Update on the Jose Canseco fight!

This morning I awoke to find over 5,000 page views over night thanks to Sherdog and an ESPN blog. As it turns out, Jose Canseco has committed to fighting in an MMA event at the end of the month against this monster.

This of course was news to me, as I was expecting to photograph Jose take part in Celebrity Boxing 10 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at the end of June. After a couple of emails exchanged with the promoter, it turns out Jose will indeed fight this month and is expected to fight in Florida next month as well, as his contract states.

Unfortunately, dealing with Jose Canseco you never really know what to expect. That is why I took the liberty of investing in a new camera for my photography. Of course, by “investing” I mean I sold a bunch of stuff I had to be able to afford this Nikon D200 and two awesome lenses.

So even if Jose does back out, at least you guys will get better baseball photos.

My first photography gig w/ Jose Canseco

I have been pursuing photography for a couple of baseball seasons now. It’s a fun way to contribute something to fans of baseball and over the last couple of months I can honestly say that I have improved quite a bit, without having the luxury of using an expensive SLR camera like the professionals do.

I have been hired to be the official photographer of Celebrity Boxing 10, being held on Saturday, June 27th in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Headlining the event will be a former baseball star and my childhood idol, Jose Canseco.

Along with access to press conference and a great view from ringside, I will also be in the dressing room before and after the fight documenting every aspect of the event while trying to enjoy the spectacle of a celebrity boxing match.

An opponent has yet to be named. Stay tuned for exclusive coverage of the event.
