Card Spotlight – A.P.O.H ‘Haircuts’

Underwhelming.

That’s the one word I’d use to describe this baseball card, if you can call it that. I mean, while I never really understood why Jackie Kennedy Onassis was an “icon” and always thought she looked a bit “homely”, a photo somewhere on the front of this card would have been a little more appropriate than an eagle. I mean sure, I should be somewhat content but I guess the whole “printing error” made me lose interest in this card.

To Upper Deck’s credit, this card came in less than two weeks after I redeemed it. Considering I redeemed an autograph from 2007 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects 10 months ago and it still hasn’t shown up, Upper Deck did one hell of a job. They even had their customer service department email me to remind me this item was ready for pick up at Fed Ex.

I have to admit, seeing one of these in person is kind of strange. The scan does not do the card justice in any way. These are definitely cards you need to see & touch in person. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will sell for much, especially not without a cut signature.

This card will be on eBay by the end of the week. Wish me luck, as I need some extra cash for a down payment on a new vehicle. I finally ditched the American-made Mustang that has given me so much trouble over the last six months.

  1. Very cool! I will be watching the auction. Hope you do well with the card. I think it MAY surprise you.

Just kinda shocked there was no numbering.

  2. no picture because they didn’t want to pay to use her likeness, they probably didn’t have to even pay to use that name since she added the “Onassis” part later.

  3. I think you’re vastly underestimating the appeal of Jackie O. She WAS the woman back in the day, in fact there was a recent episode of Mad Men that commented on the fact that in 1962 women either wanted to be Jackie O or Marilyn Monroe.

You got yourself a nice card there M, and it’s going to go for a lot more than you think.

Also, NONE of those DNA relics have a signature with them, so hey, if the JFK sold for 3 grand why not the Jackie O?

  4. Mario my friend I think you have a winner with that card.I think your card should bring in about $500.00 to $1500.00.Good Luck!

  5. good luck on getting some $ from that card.
I can’t believe they ddin’t put a pic of her on the card

  6. Not to mention the improper grammer

    “an historical strand”

    should be

    “a historical strand”

Call me nit picking but it’s like nails on a chalkboard
