Either every collector on the Internet was having a really bad week or the hatred for Topps has reached an all-time high. It appears that for the ultra-dull Topps flagship brand, inserted into packs of series two are some hard to get short print rookie cards. You can read all about it here and on a lot of other angry blogs.
I don’t know about you but I am not much affected by this recent short print craziness. Come to think of it, aside from set collectors, who really cares? We all know that the man who made this disaster, could never run for president. If this brings a little extra publicity to our hobby, is that against the rules?
I know this kind of thing never happened in the 90’s, oh wait…what about the Michael Jordan card? So fine, it never happened in the 80’s, Oops, almost forgot Mr. “F” Face Billy Ripken. This nonsense is back again in 2008 and you can expect it to only keep getting worse. If you can’t find a way to steer clear of it, you are going to be left missing out on great products like Masterpieces and Allen & Ginter, not to mention a stress-induced tumor the size of Jose Canseco’s birthmark.
