9 players you don’t want to invest in

Everyone does prospects, how about a completely worthless list of players who you should probably not rush out and buy cards of. Thankfully, ESPN did the work for me. This is a list of players that can’t seem to land a Major League job for 2008.

1. Barry Bonds – Funny how the all-time Home Run King can’t get a job to save his life. It wouldn’t have anything to do with him facing federal charges for lying under oath, now would it?

2. Livan Hernandez – This one comes as a bit of a shock. He may not have turned out to be as great as many expected his brother to be, but he is still one of the most reliable pitchers in the game. He has reached 200+ innings pitched 9 years in a row!

3. Tony Clark – This one is astounding. Tony Clark can hit for power still. Check out my post about him a couple of months back. What is surprising is despite his weak numbers, last year he had a home run every 13.0 at bats, only 5 players had a better ratio; Alex Rodriguez & Prince Fielder among them.

4. Shannon Stewart – Shannon turned up 4th in the M.V.P voting in 2003 but has since vanished from the semi-elite status. Last season he did hit 12 home runs with 48 R.B.I, not to mention a.290 average. He may not be a mini-slugger anymore but can someone explain why he can’t land a job?

Check out the rest of the list HERE.

  1. No person should invest in any Ken Griffey Jr card from here on out either. He is a bad man. Saw a video on you tube were he taunted a puppy. There are stories of him tipping 8% instead of 15%. Once was on the news offering “No comment”. Stay away from all of his cards. Please. I want them.

  2. I’m pretty sure that the card you have pictured of Bonds isn’t Bonds. I looked through some ’87 Donruss and ’87 Donruss Opening Day, and it’s definitely not the same picture as those cards.

  3. Shannon Stewart has had injury problems the last few years, but he’s always played on artificial turf…until last year in Oakland. Then he had a decent year and is supposed to cost to much, I guess that means somebody will take him.
