Josh Hamilton, once destined to be the next big thing in 1999, was shipped over to the Texas Rangers in a trade yesterday. Hamilton, has had somewhat of a colorful life in his 26 years on Earth but made the most of it last season, his first in the majors, by hitting 19 home runs and driving in 47 runners in less than 300 at-bats. If he can keep out of trouble and play a full season, 35-40 home runs and 100+ RBI is not completely out of the question.

Josh Hamilton has been through hell and back so there is not much that can keep him down these days. With just about every player in baseball (slight exaggeration) cheating to get ahead, Hamilton’s comeback story is just what is needed to bring some fans back to baseball in 2008. I for one hope he gets a shot at a full-time job with the Rangers. It’s not like they have anyone better to write into the line-up 162 times next year. Don’t you dare say Milton Bradley!
