Upper Deck Icons baseball has been live for days but thanks to A & G Mania, has been completely anonymous. It’s really too bad because once you get past the really bad idea of unsigned manufactured patches of non-sports figures, you are looking at a very well-designed product.
Dave & Adam’s is selling boxes for just $80 dollars, which is a surprisingly low price point considering you are promised two memorabilia relics and one autograph per box. The catch? Only 60 cards per Hobby box for a 160-card set. Furthermore, the few collectors bustin’ Icons are complaining of sticker autographs.
WHAT?!? If I recall, last year’s Baseball Heroes was all stickers and it didn’t stop collectors from bustin’ huge quantities of boxes and cases of the stuff. Perhaps Icons lacks the personality and nostalgia of Heroes but it certainly deserves a little attention during the month of Allen & Ginter.

Who cares?
It’s pretty much indentical to umpteen other relic & sig focused products…
When manufacturers flood the market with too many similar products, they all start to seem alike and collectors lose interest.
I was going to comment on this, but mfw13 got it EXACTLY right, so no need
I have to pile on and agree. If you want an Upper Deck Rasmus rookie auto, the SPx is the one to go after. If you want unautographed manufactured patches then there’s plenty of products that contain them these days. Like you stated, the base set isn’t easy to complete from busting wax and is probably much easy to do by purchasing lots and singles online.
As far as last year’s Heroes, I didn’t see people really start busting that until the boxes dropped in price. It’s a great deal for what the boxes sell for these days and once Icons drops to $50 a box it might be worth it as well.
I can see this product getting lost in the shuffle since it came out at the same time as A&G and doesn’t have anything that makes it stand out.
I agree with everyone here.
Going to end up a product that you can get a few singles of but not really worth a purchase.
I just bought some packs of this today. I think the base cards are just boring. I’ll have a post up in a couple of days.
I can’t imagine wanting to spend anywhere near 80 dollars on this product. So much of what these companies put out just seems redundant.
Upper deck doesnt even care. They still havent put the checklist up on the site
I can’t wait to collect the entire black-border mini set!!!
Oh, right. Never mind.
Upper Deck writing “…we hope you enjoy this piece of memorabilia” on the back of their manufactured patches has to be a contender for sarcastic saying of the year. It’s right up there with “Event-Worn Jersey that’s been certified to us as having been worn at an event”
