By early 2007 it had been over a decade since my last pack of baseball cards. Not only had I gone cold turkey with collecting but after my childhood idol admitted to being a cheater (alongside his buddies), baseball died for me around 2002.
One fateful day at a Barnes & Noble I stumbled upon a Beckett Baseball magazine and found an advertisement for Co-Signers and was mesmerized. I knew autographs existed in the Hobby, although they were nearly impossible to pull in the early 90’s, but this card was something different.
To me, this card was perfect. Sure, the Topps sticker is loud and bright but so is the design. Along with home run hero, Alex Rodriguez, you have an autograph of legendary astronaut, Buzz Aldrin. What more could anyone possibly ask for? My love for collecting was restarted and within hours I was bustin’ a $120-dollar box of Co-Signers.
It’s now been two years and the card is on eBay for $50 dollars more than in 2008. The problem is that Topps has updated their stickers to a more subtle, clear version and Alex Rodriguez is now on Jose’s list of cheaters. I feel torn between what I once thought was amazing to a card I am not sure I even want anymore.
What do you guys think of this card?

Although I’m not an ARod fan by any stretch, living near Boston my whole life, I do think it’s a cool looking card.. I like the black background and the stars.. But the picture you have here for some reason looks alot better than the one in the ebay auction IMO.. I dunno if it’s the perfect angle it was taken at, making the hologram of the stickers really stand out, but the card looks much better in that shot.
I wouldn’t care about the PayRod auto, just to have a Buzz Aldrin auto would be worth it.
I’m not a big fan of the design. I think the card itself, without the sticker autos would be okay… but Topps just threw the two sticker autos onto the front of this card. IMO, it’s too busy. However, if someone was giving me this card, I’d take it in a heartbeat and it would go straight to my PC. It’s not often you have the opportunity to throw the auto of an American icon into your collection (I’m talking about Aldrin, not A-Rod). You’d have to be crazy to drop $600 on this card though.
Dude, Buzz Aldrin is Buzz Aldrin. You can pair him up with A-Rod, Satan or Kathy Lee Gifford and it’s still an awesome card. Your holy grail is pretty much untarnishable.
I think it still is a great card. Although I’m a Yankees fan and admit I didn’t like what Alex did, I think any time you can get a hand on an autograph of his is something special. Buzz Aldrin is cool too.

Aren’t they all the same person? Have you ever seen them together in a room? No? I rest my case.

That would make it a quad auto!
A little insight on Buzz Aldrin from Wikipedia:
Buzz Aldrin made a guest star appearance in an episode of animated sitcom The Simpsons entitled “Deep Space Homer”, in which the main character, Homer Simpson, signs up to NASA as their first “Average Joe” astronaut. Aldrin displayed a good sense of humor about his status as second man on the moon, proclaiming “Second comes right after first!”, while his introduction to Homer is met with absolute non-recognition.
With the revelations that A-Rod has abused steroids, perhaps it would be more appropriate to rip his sticker off the card and superimpose a picture of Homer Simpson on the card?
I would take a Dan Castellanetta/Buzz Aldrin dual auto 10 times out of 10.
Someone PLEASE make a Buzz Aldrin/Dan Castellanetta dual auto.
moe.
its something i would be happy to pull, so i could cut up the left side and frame the right side.
hell, mr. hankey the christamas poo and buzz aldrin auto would be a better match that aroid.
you know the guys a nobody when he leaves seattle (right after griffey and johnson left) and they win 116 games, which is a co-record.
id be happy to pull it just to try to trade it to a yanks fan for something more than its worth.
