Love and hate. That’s how I feel about Florida Marlins pitcher, Chris Volstad. You see, with so many games attended in 2008 we had a chance to meet lots of Marlins players. Some of them were overly nice (Andrew Miller, Alfredo Amazaga) others had their moments (Josh Willingham, Dallas McPherson) but very few were just not nice all of the time. On that list was back-up catcher Mike Rabelo, who is long gone and Chris Volstad, a 21-year old pitcher who will likely be the Marlins ace for at least a couple of years.
2005 Bowman Chrome consistently gets brought up any time “Chromies” discuss their favorite Chrome release. Looking at such an elegant card like this ‘05 Chrome it makes me wonder how any company could ever think of overtaking the “Home of the Rookie Card”. Clearly, these guys know what they are doing.
As for Volstad, 2009 will be a new year and we will attend Marlins Spring Training in Jupiter, Florida hoping we catch Chris on a good day so we can add his photo to our long list of players The Infamous Tatiana has been pictured with. Hopefully our persistence will one day pay off, as we’d like to be able to say that we have a small connection with the “next big thing” in pitching.
Thanks to AKA Coastal for this wonderful card!

I use to have like 15 BGS 9.5’s of his Bowman Sterling auto rookies, got tired of waiting for him “break out” so I sold them all last spring.
How can you give up on a 21 year old???
