Ambiorix Burgos is one classy Met!

2 10 2008

Ambiorix Burgos, a 24-year old pitcher who came up with the Kansas City Royals in 2005 is now a wanted man by authorities in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (link). Police say that Burgos was driving his new Hummer SUV when he hit two women and fled the crime scene. A few hours later, both women died from their injuries.

Just last month, this New York Met was arrested for repeated punching, biting, and slapping his girlfriend (link). Seeing as nothing was done the first time around by the Mets organization, you can expect to see Ambiorix next season in Spring Training, unless someone finds his hideout in D.R.

If Burgos did this, he’ll never get back to spring training as the US will likely yank his visa. I don’t think you can blame his stupid on the Mets though, it’s not like Omar Minaya was driving.

Hey Mario, Burgos is hidding in my basement. shhhhhhhhh, don’t tell anyone. He’s sorting through my 10 thousand 1988 Topps commons. Seriously though, he should spend the rest of his life with a large hairy cell-mate named Bubba.

Those are the first two people he got out in a long time. What is it with Mets relievers and homicides (Julio Machado I’m looking at you too)?

Just a FYI…here is what I saw on metsblog.com

Mets RHP Ambiorix Burgos was allegedly involved in a hit and run in the Dominican Republic, which resulted in the death of two women.

The Mets later released the following statement, which read:

“We are extremely disturbed by the reports regarding the player’s potential involvement in the hit and run accident that unfortunately killed two women in the Dominican Republic. We take this matter very seriously and have begun an internal investigation to ascertain the facts. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the families of the victims.”

In early September, Burgos was arrested for beating up his girlfriend at a hotel near Shea Stadium.

Honestly…I hope we do release him. For 2 reasons. 1) he has pitched a total of 27.2 innings since 2007. So apparently he’s a waste of payroll (regardless of off the field actions) and 2) because…apparently the dude is a maniac.

I thought you were just obsessed with my blog, but now i see…wow you are obsessed with the Mets. Even their fringe minor league players get you all hot and bothered. I would have thought you’d be satisfied with the blotters on your own players such as the oft tasered Scott Olsen.

Oft-tasered Scott Olsen…I like that. He should be on another team in 2009.

BTW, I love Tom Seaver and Nolan Ryan and several other Mets, mostly from the past.
