Curt Schilling speaks the truth?

19 09 2008

Usually when Curt Schilling opens his fat mouth the room is left with a bad taste in the air. He may be one of the best pitchers of the last decade but seriously, have you ever read his blog? Anyway, Curt recently did a radio interview and put Manny Ramirez on blast for his awful behavior while playing on the Red Sox.

You know, Los Angeles may have been given a mighty boost from Manny’s “revival” but let it be known I am perfectly content with my Florida Marlins’ passing up on the offer of bringing this clubhouse Cancer to Dolphin Stadium. If we don’t reach the playoffs this season at least we came just about as close as any team with a salary under $25 million.

Speaking as a Dodger fan, I’m thrilled RIGHT NOW that Manny is on my team. Without knowing Manny personally, I wouldn’t classify him as scum. I do think he has a huge maturity issue, which leads to his frequent, uh, episodes. And I don’t want the Dodgers to sign him this offseason because I know his history. But for right now, this moment, he’s the perfect guy for L.A.

I love how athletes like Schilling love to spout off on someone like Manny…after he leaves town and plays a huge role in winning two championships. Shouldn’t “leaders” like Schilling be speaking up while this is going on and doing something to try and bring about change if they are upset. Instead it’s wait until the situation is over and then bitch and spout off.

Isn’t Schilling’s reputation at this point pretty much shot? Didn’t we learn not too long ago that the blood on his sock during that one playoff game was really nail polish?

Seriously, Man-Ram has been fantastic for the Dodgers, and even though I’m an Angel fan, I hope they do sign him to a long contract, at least he’ll add a level of interest to the Dodgers that they haven’t had for a LONG time.

I’m not saying what he said is without merit, but Schilling whined about Pedro as well. He maybe well intentioned talking point of everything right, but he comes across as a blowhard and a hypocrite.

I guess it isn’t enough Schilling signed his contract and suddenly figured out he couldn’t pitch for 2008. Who has helped the Red Sox more in 2008? Manny or Schill?
