Guys, I am retiring the Pay Pal donation button from Wax Heaven. Truth be told, it’s no longer “cool” to have one and besides, having your daily readership is way more important to me than getting tips for my work on the site.
If ever I inspire you to start your own blog, get back into the hobby, or make your work day go by quicker and you feel like you owe me, drop me a line and thank me. That’s more than I could ever ask for. Sometimes people choose to send me packages with thank you notes and free cards and that favor is almost always returned when I have time (and postage) to do so.
I want to thank everyone for making Wax Heaven a success and the most-read hobby blog on the Internet. I can assure you that I am going nowhere and only plan to work even harder to breakthrough into a larger audience but only if it benefits the site.
You can also expect to have Wax HeavenĀ be 100% ad-free not just today or tomorrow but forever. Two days ago I received an e-mail asking me to place banner ads on the site for one year for a considerable amount of funds but I rejected the offer. This is never going to be about making money but about making the site a place you will be able to visit without hassle or worries that some banner ad will ruin your experience.
Finally, if you would like to send a package to Wax Heaven and would like to know what I collect, the answer is simple: current Marlins players. Thanks to the many readers who have been kind enough to send out packages, I have 100% of all 2006/2007/2008 Marlins but will always need newer releases and parallels.
Of course, that’s only if you’d like to send out cards. All I care about is continuing to bring you the latest hobby news, previews, reviews, and commentary around. There will be more contests in the future along with sponsorship opportunities for specific contests only. If that is something you are interested in, drop me a line at Waxheaven@gmail.com
Stay tuned cause the best is yet to come!

I saw that post and I couldnt believe it. What…a…douche.
Ehh, you should’ve taken the money for the banners. Firefox can block most ads out anyway. The SignaCut is coming soon, I swear. Probably early August since I’ve only got maybe $10 to survive on till the end of the month.
You do a good job Mario…I remember when it was all about Jose canseco and that was great. You’ve expanded, keep me up on things I probably wouldn’t know about otherwise, and things are always entertaining.
Thanks.
Be honest, nobody wanted to put ads on this crappy, never-read blog. You aren’t going to sell out because nobody has offered anything to make you do it, lol.
If I were you I would leave it on. If people want to donate, then why not. As far as the ads go, you should do it. As long as they pertain to baseball card collecting. I’ve turned away one ad from my site, just because it had nothing to do with card collecting. I don’t think anyone would mind a Dave and Adam’s ad on your site.
I think ads are okay as long as they pertain to collecting and baseball, because that is what your site relates to. I think the only way your readers would be offended by having ads on the site is if they were Viagra or herpes medication ads.
And don’t look at it as “selling out”, it’s simply cashing in for all your hard work. If you could make a living simple from WaxHeaven… wouldn’t you want to? There is nothing better than getting paid for doing something you absolutely love.
PS- Ben Henry sucks.
I’d have thrown you a buck or two, but being a Mets fan means all my disposable income goes towards therapy
I would have never even considered a donation button but being a Marlins fan, all my disposable income goes towards $12 beer and $8 pretzels.
I’m with the others — ads on a blog never have and never will bother me. It doesn’t detract from the hard work you’ve put into Wax Heaven. It actually validates it. You deserve some kind of reward and we all know you’d probably put whatever you made toward making the site better (more box breaks, etc.)
I’m just one reader, but I say you take what you feel comfortable with. I wouldn’t see it as selling out or anything like that.
Define “a considerable amount of funds” ? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Thats good though that your able to resist temptation— I am not even advertising I have site — yet I have received inquiries already from people who stumbled on it,,,,,, they all get told if its not baseball related you better be offering me thousands,,,,,,, not one comes back an says yes— rats

Mario All I can say is Thank You! Your a class act all the way!! I should only hope that you never leave us? Your site brings a breath of fresh air to this Hobby! Your bold articles and great reporting keeps people on point.
Keep up the Excellent Work!!!
Jeffv96masters, it was nothing to retire on (for even a month) but it was respectable. I rejected but asked that his client could sponsor a contest by offering either a baseball card to giveaway (I’d include a link in the post) or could provide a hobby box for us to do a video box break and product reviews but I never heard back from them.
I wouldn’t mind ads as long as they aren’t pop ups, not safe for work, automatic videos or make noises. If it’s card related sometimes I want to see them.
Mario, all I can say is thank you for all the hard work you put into this blog each and every day. I look forward to reading it each day and enjoy sharing some of the articles with my wife, who I’ve caught reading the blog or her own when she doesn’t think I’m looking. As for the ads, I would seriously consider having them, especially if you can keep them related to the theme of your blog. Thanks again for all the hard work, keep it up!!!
I am so glad you did this. I remember not too long ago when you asked for donations, it kind of pissed me off at the time. I know you put a lot of hard work into this blog and if you can make money by putting ads on it, that would be fine but to me asking for donations is only a hair trigger away from demanding donations. I’ve seen it happen too many times and it’s ruined a lot of great sites out there and as you can see it’s not looking good for Mr. Henry right now because of it.
