Oscar Wilde & baseball cards?!?

23 07 2008

Back in the day before I was a married man with children when I was a “swinging” bachelor I became obsessed with quotes, specifically ones that I could relate to. To me, there was no quotes I could relate to more than Oscar Wilde’s work. It’s almost as the man was writing from my very own experiences.

Thanks to 2008 Topps Allen & Ginter, Mr. Wilde and his woman-hating ways can be found in your very own pack of baseball cards. Considering I have reserved two Hobby boxes of the stuff, obviously one of these “silk” cards is a card I am crossing my fingers in hopes of pulling.

Below is a list of my top 5 favorite Oscar WIlde quotes you can read while listening to your iPod & surfing the web on your Mac in Starbucks. Enjoy your Mocha Chocolate and $6 dollar cookie.

5. A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing.

4. Experience is the name every one gives to their mistakes.

3. A little sincerity is a dangerous thing, a great deal of it is absolutely fatal.

2. All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy.

1. We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking up at the stars.

The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it.

I’m looking foward to aquiring some Billy Mitchell cards from that set, everyone’s gotta have heroes.
