Where is Rafael Palmeiro?

22 07 2008

It’s been a rough few years for Rafael Palmeiro, who would probably still be playing on some team had he not been named a “cheater” after his steroids suspension. It’s hard to fathom that with a career .288 average, 569 home runs, and 3,020 hits that Rafael Palmeiro might never enter the Hall of Fame (at least not without his $16.50)

Everyone remembers how Rafael defiantly waved his overgrown, steroid finger in front of congress and assured the entire world that not only was he not a cheater but Jose Canseco was full of it. Of course, it’s been a few years and with the downfall of much bigger names like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens one would argue that now would be as good a time as any to make a return to the public life for Palmeiro.

Hey, Jim Leyritz is responsible for someone’s death but that hasn’t stopped him from visiting the Yankees during Spring Training or even writing blogs. What harm has Palmeiro really caused? Well, besides sleeping with Ryne Sandberg’s wife, not much else. We already knew he was that kind of guy and that he didn’t keep the best company (Jose Canseco & Juan Gonzalez in the 90’s!) but so what?

Now, if anyone has any questions about when Palmeiro might have started cheating, consider that he didn’t have his first 30-home run season until one year after joining Jose Canseco on the Texas Rangers.

Stating rumors as if they are facts degenerates your entire blog.

My aunt, the one that passed away back a few months ago right after my blog started, actually knew him from when he used to live in Tupelo, MS… I can’t remember exactly how, but she always told me she would get me some cards signed. Never happened.

For real? I could see him being a Real Estate agent. Many former athletes have done so after retiring.
